It looks like Wisconsin is getting some new renewable energy projects, which is really exciting. We Energies just announced that they’re breaking ground on three different projects – a solar and battery storage project, a wind project, and another solar and battery storage project. These projects are going to be able to power around 100,000 homes, which is a pretty big deal.
The projects are all part of We Energies’ plan to provide reliable energy to their customers, and they’re expected to support over 450 jobs during construction. The company is taking an “all of the above” approach to power generation, which means they’re using a mix of different energy sources to meet growing demand. The new projects include a 75-megawatt energy storage facility, a 150-megawatt solar project with 50 megawatts of battery storage, and a 110-megawatt wind project.
All of these projects were previously approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, and they’re being developed and constructed by Invenergy, a company that’s already developed 17 projects in the state. The projects are expected to not only provide much-needed energy, but also invest in local communities with new jobs and revenue. We Energies, along with co-owners Wisconsin Public Service and Madison Gas and Electric, will be the majority owner of the new projects, which is a big step forward for Wisconsin’s energy future.
